I'm an award-winning journalist, as well as a coach, manager, editor and strategic planner. My expertise is in startups and innovative companies, from consumer tech to biotech. I’ve studied the effects of accelerators, incubators and other outside influences on early-stage startups. I am on the volunteer board of Egleston Square Main Street, providing small businesses with assistance and advocacy. I’m an advisor with Subforum, a multi-disciplinary research and design group. I grew up in Oakland, Calif., and Tokyo, Japan, where I gained a good footing in Japanese and other foreign languages. I'm licensed as a sea captain and certified as an instructor of Capoeira Angola. I like to see people succeed.
